Sonscreen 2025 Brings Together 200+ Creatives to Celebrate Faith, Film, and Community

From April 3-5, more than 200 student filmmakers, professionals, and guests gathered at Loma Linda University Church in California for the North American Division’s 2025 Sonscreen Film Festival. Now in its 22nd year, this unique NAD event showcased 48 student films and several professional projects, featured workshops led by professional faith-based filmmakers, and honored emerging voices via a pitch competition with cash prizes and an awards ceremony.

Opening Doors and Hearts to Students from Ukraine

In February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine. While world leaders deliberated how to support the people of Ukraine militarily, the international governing body of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (the General Conference) reached out to Adventist colleges in North America and Europe, asking if they could help displaced Ukrainian students whose educations were disrupted by the invasion. Kettering College was one of the institutions that answered the call — 50 times over.

Walla Walla University Enactus Club Earns Prize for Energy Innovation Project

This spring, Walla Walla University’s Enactus club entered the Alaska Airlines 2023 Environmental Innovation Challenge alongside 20 other teams, and took home the $5,000 Community Impact Prize for their project on energy innovation. The team of five students is developing Bionova, a biogas production process to provide a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to wood and charcoal for cooking fuel.

Several Adventist Publications Earn Awards at the Annual Associated Church Press Convention

On April 20, 2022, several Adventist publications based in North America received recognition for their work in a variety of categories at the Associated Church Press (ACP)* “Best of the Church Press” awards held in Chicago, Illinois. Winners in 78 categories — representing 58 organizations and 728 entries — highlighted the best of faith-based journalism produced in 2022.

Southwestern Adventist University To Receive More than $2.7 Million Grant for Nursing Education Program

Southwestern Adventist University (SWAU) is the proud recipient of Promoting Postbaccalaureate Opportunities for Hispanic Americans Program (PPOHA) Title V Part B grant. Over the next five years, SWAU will receive more than $2.7 million to develop a Master of Science in Nursing Education program with state-of-the-art wrap-around student success services.
