Andrews University is one of only 139 universities and colleges around the world to be honored by Exercise is Medicine®for its efforts to create a culture of wellness on campus. For the fourth year in a row, Andrews has earned gold level designation from the Exercise is Medicine®On Campus (EIM-OC) program. 

The Mid-West region of the United States experienced a tornado outbreak sequence throughout the month of May that left widespread devastation. The major weather event produced 300 tornados, including 18 EF3 tornadoes and two EF4 tornados. Adventist organizations and Adventist Community Services projects and partnerships in affected areas of Ohio, Missouri, and Arkansas mobilized to address the dire needs of residents who lost housing, water, and power in the aftermath, and are continuing to provide long-term relief.

After two years in one location, the Northern California Conference’s Urban Camp Meeting said goodbye to Stockton, California, on June 20-22, 2019. This year’s theme was “Time to Engage” — for next year, the camp meeting will engage in a new place. And it’s all part of the plan.

After nearly 25 years of teaching graphic design, 12 of those as department chair, Milbert Mariano has recently been named the Pacific Union College's new vice president for academic administration and academic dean. Mariano fills the role following Nancy Lecourt’s retirement after 40 years at PUC.

On May 22, the fourth episode of “Is This Thing On?” broadcast on Facebook and YouTube during the 2019 Adventist Christian Fellowship Institute. Midway through the institute, which ran May 20-25, college and university students from public campuses, as well as some young adult local church members, asked and answered questions during the 90-minute afternoon dialogue with North American Division officers Dan Jackson, president; Alex Bryant, executive secretary; and Randy Robinson, treasurer.

The 2019 Adventist Christian Fellowship (ACF) Institute was hosted at the University of California, Berkeley, on May 20-25. About 80 students from the U.S. and Canada attended. Some had attended previous years, but most of them were new to the ACF Institute. The theme for this year is “Be the Difference.” 

It Is Written has received 18 Telly Awards in 2019: 13 bronze, four silver, and its first-ever gold Telly for “Black Wall Street.” These numbers include one bronze award for Escrito Está, It Is Written’s Spanish-language ministry.

The Washington Adventist University Enactus Team received a 3rd place award in the Opening Round of the 2019 Enactus National Exposition held in Kansas City, Missouri held May 5-7, 2019.  The competition featured 86 universities who for three days presented their entrepreneurial-based projects aimed at empowering their communities.
