Our mission

Adventist Community Services (ACS) is committed to a holistic ministry; ACS serves the whole person by addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Our mission is to “serve communities in Christ’s name,” bringing hope, compassion, and practical support to those in need.

Our core values

Sharing – We proclaim the good news of salvation by actively demonstrating the love of God.
Connecting – We build relationships by connecting people with their community family and to God.
Ministering – We minister to the communities we serve by focusing on their physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being.
Discipleship – We empower and engage members to serve their communities by teaching, mentoring, and equipping in holistic ministry.

How we serve

Through church-based programs, ACS mobilizes members to use their skills and knowledge to meet the needs of their communities. Service areas include:

Disaster Response – Providing relief and recovery assistance in times of crisis.
Emotional and Spiritual Care – Offering "emotional first aid" and spiritual guidance to those impacted by crisis and traumatic experiences.
Community Development/Urban Ministry – Providing on-going practical programs that make a real difference in urban and local communities.
Older Adult Ministry – Promoting well-being and active engagement among older adults in the church and community.
Young Adults in Service – Equipping young adults for meaningful service.
Tutoring/Mentoring Programs – Supporting educational growth and personal development.

Adventist Health Global Mission Supports Relief Efforts after Rowena Wildfire

In the wake of the June 11 wildfire that swept through Rowena, Oregon, Adventist Health Global Mission partnered with the Adventist Health Columbia Gorge team, organizing relief efforts to support affected community members and Adventist Health employees.

In Response to Natural Disasters, Adventist Community Services Is Working to Assist Affected Communities

After the deadly tornadoes in May of this year, which caused widespread damage in Missouri and Kentucky, the Adventist Community Services (ACS) team continues to provide active support. In St. Louis, Missouri, there was significant property damage, and several lives were lost. In Texas, relief services are underway following deadly floods from early July. ACS Disaster Response has been working in those areas.

During General Conference Session Adventist Community Services and impact! st. louis Team Help Support Recovering Tornado Victims

Multiple levels of Adventist Community Services are joining forces with impact! st. louis, an initiative of the General Conference Youth Ministries department, to offer some relief to those still wrestling with the ramifications of the May 16 tornado. The Spanish church has been set up as a distribution center for food and other essential items. This and other community service efforts are running concurrent with the 62nd GC Session taking place downtown on July 3-12, 2025.

Help Provided in St. Louis After Tornado Strike

On May 16, 2025, a powerful EF-3 tornado tore through St. Louis, Missouri, and continued into Madison County, Illinois, reaching wind speeds of up to 152 mph and spanning 22.8 miles. NAD Adventist Community Services (ACS) is partnering with the Mid-America Union Conference, local churches, civic leaders, and other Adventist entities to provide ongoing disaster relief.

Bread and Better Life Café to Launch Summer 2025

In late March, the Southwestern Union hosted preview events in anticipation of the launch of a new community outreach initiative, the Bread and Better Life Café. The development of Bread and Better Life Café has been spearheaded by Southwestern Union Health Ministries director Randall Phillips, along with leaders from the union and a partnership with the North American Division.
