Lessons for the Living

I have a confession to make. I have a habit, some might call it a morbid one, but wherever I go, whatever city I’m visiting, I will find myself in the oldest cemetery in town, walking among the dead. I can go to a cemetery, and stay for two hours, three hours, and I walk up and down reading the tombstones. I like to ponder: Who was this person? What was their life?

Spreading an Evangelism Net

Before the storm, the organization reached out the other partners such as FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency), the American Red Cross, and Salvation Army, to plan how best to help those affected by the storm. “Louisiana has confirmed that they want us to operate and manage a warehouse,” said W. Derrick Lea, North American Division (NAD) ACS DR director.

Adventist Community Services Preps for Hurricane Laura Aftermath

What has been forecast and talked about for the last week materialized early this morning around 1 a.m. in Louisiana as Hurricane Laura touched down with 150 m.p.h. winds, the strongest to make landfall in the state since 1856. Although the storm has now weakened from a category 4 to a category 2 hurricane, Governor John Edwards activated the state’s National Guard as widespread devastation is expected across the state. With this as the backdrop, Adventist Community Services (ACS) for the Southwest Union Conference has been in preparation mode.
