Our mission

To connect North American volunteers to mission opportunities that effectively meet the needs of people and communities across North American and around the world.

How we serve

Adventist Screening Verification
Receive and process long-term and short-term volunteers and group applications
Establish and oversee tutoring, mentoring, and literacy programs
Provide volunteer training and awareness internally within the NAD and externally to schools, unions, conferences, churches, and supportive organizations at special annual events including campus ministries, Year-end meetings, evangelistic efforts, conventions, seminars, workshops, and other relevant ministry program activities
Track and record volunteer and community outreach statistics to monitor growth and trends for reports
Process service requests and supply volunteer mission opportunities placed by calling organizations
Provide special services to volunteer applicants including supplying volunteer insurance coverage, guidance on immigration/visa instructions, and Preparation for Mission training and orientation
Provide volunteer tools/resources such as HeSaidGo.net Web site applications and resources, Passport to Mission book, Office of Volunteer Ministries Travel Packet, outreach and evangelistic resources, and volunteer marketing tool

Medical Mission Takes Off Again

Before the pandemic, the last mission trip by a medical team of the Guam Seventh-day Adventist Clinic was in November 2019. They traveled to Yap in the Federated States of Micronesia to provide primary care. The return to missions began in November 2022 when the clinic’s eye care team went to the Republic of Palau, followed by a medical and dental trip to Rota in the U.S. territory of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) in January 2023.

"To go or not to go?" That was the question! We had just been informed that John, my husband, had idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a terminal disease, and he had anywhere from six months to two years to live. After collecting our breath (literally), and crying together, we refocused our future on the eternal. It seemed clear that the Lord was leading us to serve as AVS volunteers in Malawi.
