On October 1, 2025, the North American Division of the Seventh-day Adventists (NAD) will livestream a special one-hour prayer meeting. This will be the third event of its kind hosted by the NAD in connection with the Pentecost 2025 initiative. The first such meeting ushered in the 10 Days of Prayer on Jan. 8, and the second honed in on an earnest season of prayer as many church and school groups began to engage in community outreach and evangelistic meeting as part of their Pentecost 2025 events.
The latest prayer meeting will livestream on Zoom and social media platforms. NAD leaders will gather specifically to hear what’s happening now in a few meetings across the division, and pray for those and other meetings also happening concurrently or this fall. Erton C. Köhler, General Conference president, will also join this special prayer event.
“If people can catch the spirit — to pray, connect with the community, proclaim, and disciple, the results are in the Spirit’s hands — that’s the heart and essence of Pentecost 2025,” said G. Alexander Bryant, NAD president.
Bryant acknowledged that conferences, churches, and schools have already been doing outreach and evangelism with many successes. Having a rallying point such as Pentecost 2025 only assists in creating a more united, laser focus for everyone. He explained that Pentecost 2025 is not about new programs but about renewed dependence on the Spirit. “At the heart of Pentecost 2025 is an acknowledgement that our resources are not enough, our abilities are not enough — we need an additional power, a Holy Spirit power,” he said.
He observed at the six or seven camp meetings he’s attended “how the conference leadership, the church leadership, had taken [Pentecost 2025] and just moved it forward. People were energized. They were excited.”
Bryant continued, “It was the theme of every conference camp meeting I went to: They may have called it ‘Let It Rain.’ One of them called it “Pentecost 2025, and Beyond.” The energy and the synergy felt was just overwhelming. I believe that’s because we came together in prayer for the outpouring of the Spirit.”
The impact of prayer and outpouring of the Spirit has already been widespread. Bryant shared inspiring stories of small congregations stepping out in faith. “Some of the best stories are from little churches of 20 or 30 people,” he said. “They hadn’t done anything for 20 years, but they prayed, reached into their communities, and saw people respond. One church of 30 gained eight new members — and they’re already planning for next year.”
With more than half of NAD congregations under 100 members, Bryant believes Pentecost 2025 provides a model for everyone to participate. “You don’t need a big evangelist or a major campaign. God has given every church the tools to spread the gospel,” he said.
The October 1 prayer meeting will continue uniting the division in prayer for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. As Bryant summarized: “Together, we’re learning that this is doable. If every member and every church catches the vision, the Spirit will do the work.”
The Wednesday evening event will stream from the NAD headquarters, beginning at 9 p.m. ET. The NAD is encouraging those interested in joining the prayer meeting to register via this link.
The NAD has gathered social media resources for churches and leaders alike to invite their members to join the event, including an introductory video. The prayer wall, opened for the January meeting, is still active and available for people to add their prayer requests and pray for each other. It will be featured during the October 1 meeting, and part of the event’s afterglow portion for those who want to stay on the Zoom.
Those who would like to join this prayer service can register online for the live Zoom meeting (sign up will be available soon). There is limited space so the NAD encourages people to sign up as soon as possible once the form goes live. The special prayer meeting will also be shared on Facebook and YouTube.
