I have a confession to make. I have a habit, some might call it a morbid one, but wherever I go, whatever city I’m visiting, I will find myself in the oldest cemetery in town, walking among the dead. I can go to a cemetery, and stay for two hours, three hours, and I walk up and down reading the tombstones. I like to ponder: Who was this person? What was their life?
Rooted in the Word: Scripture Comes Alive at the 2025 NAD Pathfinder Bible Experience
From April 25 to 26, more than 3,000 Pathfinders, supporters, and volunteers packed the arena in historic Battle Creek, Michigan, for a weekend of worship, Bible knowledge testing, and celebration. And on Sabbath, April 26, 185 teams — the second highest number ever — gathered in person from across North America and beyond. Four teams joined virtually.
Help Provided in St. Louis After Tornado Strike
On May 16, 2025, a powerful EF-3 tornado tore through St. Louis, Missouri, and continued into Madison County, Illinois, reaching wind speeds of up to 152 mph and spanning 22.8 miles. NAD Adventist Community Services (ACS) is partnering with the Mid-America Union Conference, local churches, civic leaders, and other Adventist entities to provide ongoing disaster relief.
Spreading an Evangelism Net
As Adventists today embrace Pentecost 2025 it is important to remember some cutting-edge innovations for Adventist outreach and evangelism that took place during the 1990s. Some three decades later it may be difficult to fully appreciate just how new (and at times even startling) these efforts were. Such discussions began in 1993 when the North American Division (NAD) leadership participated in a series of satellite broadcasts with the newly formed Adventist Communication Network.
Filling in the Gap: An Adventist Teacher Dedicates Efforts Toward Special Needs
Students who have difficulty in school are no longer written off as “problem students” but rather, they are often diagnosed with ADHD or Dyslexia. Through evaluation, students are finally given the tools to encourage comprehension and regulation, prompting a more efficient education. This approach is desperately needed in our schools, and teachers such as Martha Muñoz have risen to the challenge.

This past year saw the creation of a new Pathfinder honor. My own daughter, along with two of her friends, were the initial catalyst to beta-test and help develop the requirements. As we did so, it became an opportunity to look at little-known or even unknown stories of early Adventist women.
Sonscreen Film "Those Were the Good Days" Wins Award, Receives Accolades at Several Festivals
The Sonscreen Film Festival original short “Those Were the Good Days” has received the “Best Short Film North America” award at the Kids International Family Film Festival. The six-minute film, which was produced in collaboration with Pacific Union College, has also been named as an official selection of the upcoming Topaz Film Festival, by the Women in Film Dallas Scholastic Grant Fund, and was honored as an Atticus Award Finalist at the California-based Daddying Film Festival & Forum earlier this year.
Navigating Change and Embracing Mission at NAD Educators’ Convention Seminars
“We have to always be open [to] re-educating ourselves, reconfiguring and rethinking.” During the North American Division’s 2023 Educators’ Convention, held August 7-10 in Phoenix, Arizona, a participant in a seminar on the 21st-century challenges impacting educators highlighted continuous learning as the key to staying relevant amid technological advances, shifting societal and economic norms, and other changes. With 300 seminars spread across six breakout sessions, the convention underscored that the best educators are lifelong learners.
