It was oboist Afonso Bittencourt Brito’s first time back in his native Brazil since leaving 18 months earlier to study at La Sierra University. During spring break in March, he toured the South American nation and visited his hometown as a member of a La Sierra University Chamber Winds quintet that gave performances and master classes.

The last Sabbath of March 2025 marked the Disabilities Ministries Annual Conference, hosted this year by the Living Hope Seventh-day Adventist Church in Haymarket, Virginia. Walla Walla University Church Hosts Coronavirus Vaccination Clinic in Partnership with Local Hospital and County Health Department

It was Monday morning, Jan. 18, 2021, in College Place, Washington, a year into the coronavirus pandemic, and “As far as the eye could see, there were cars. The mood was one of anticipation and gratitude,” said Alareece Collie, executive pastor for the Walla Walla University (WWU) Church. While most of the world’s population has suffered from social isolation, unease, and painful losses during the past year, it was the promise of hope that brought the Walla Walla Valley community together.

Understanding the Safety and Efficacy of the COVID-19 Vaccine

Dr. Steven Smith, vice president and chief scientific officer of AdventHealth, and principal investigator of the Janssen Pharmaceuticals COVID-19 vaccine clinic trial, recently shared his expertise and insight on vaccine development with Mylon Medley, assistant director of NAD Communication. Smith says, “You couldn't design a vaccine that looked any better than these first two vaccines [Pfizer and Moderna] that are out of the gate.”
