Sonscreen 2025 Brings Together 200+ Creatives to Celebrate Faith, Film, and Community

From April 3-5, more than 200 student filmmakers, professionals, and guests gathered at Loma Linda University Church in California for the North American Division’s 2025 Sonscreen Film Festival. Now in its 22nd year, this unique NAD event showcased 48 student films and several professional projects, featured workshops led by professional faith-based filmmakers, and honored emerging voices via a pitch competition with cash prizes and an awards ceremony.

On October 13, 2020, the Seventh-day Adventist Church and its global humanitarian arm, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), announced the second phase of the Every Child. Everywhere. In School. campaign during this year’s global church leadership meetings. School Kids Get 5,000 Backpacks Through ADRA, La Sierra University Partnership

When 9-year-old Quetzalli Dominguez opened her new backpack to find the colored pencils and other school supplies inside it was almost like Christmas. “I love it,” she said, smiling behind her face mask decorated with small hearts. The youngster received one of the 5,000 green and black school backpacks filled and distributed during August and September through a partnership with La Sierra University and the Adventist Development and Relief Agency.
