Chaplain Michael Monroig serves as Associate Director for Armed Forces, Law Enforcement, Corrections, and Community for Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries North American Division of the Seventh-day Adventists.
Born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1990, serving on two ships while on active duty. After active duty, he continued in the Navy Reserve (1994-2001). Shortly after returning to Florida, he joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Feeling called to ministry, he switched majors from business to theology, earning a Bachelor’s from Southern Adventist University and a Master of Divinity from Andrews University.
Commissioned in the Navy Chaplain Corps, he pastored in the Florida Conference for five years and served as a reserve chaplain before being recalled to active duty in 2008. He held multiple chaplain roles across the Navy and Marine Corps, various deployments, and ministry support throughout the world. Retiring in 2024 as a Lieutenant Commander after 34 years of service. He also contributed to the Potomac Conference and its executive committees.
Chaplain Monroig and his wife Lily have three children. His favorite scripture is Philippians 3:10-11.
