Dr. Juan Antonio López-de la Torre has been the Director of Adventist Colleges Abroad since August 2023. With over 20 years of experience, including his role as the Director of ACA Spain, Dr. López-de la Torre brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to his position. His career began with teaching languages—English, French, and Spanish—in SDA secondary schools across Spain, France, and the USA.

Dr. López-de la Torre holds a Ph.D. in Education and Applied Linguistics from the Universidad de Valencia. His doctoral research focused on formative language assessment through the European Language Portfolio, an innovative tool aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

A lifelong advocate for Adventist education, Dr. López-de la Torre’s journey began as a student at a small multigrade Adventist school in Murcia, Spain. He furthered his education with studies in Christian Education in France and Spain, an M.A. in Christian Education and Administration, and participation in various seminars on the Integration of Faith and Learning.

In addition to his teaching experience, Dr. López-de la Torre served as the Director of Education for the Spanish Union from 2012 to 2015 and recently taught the course “Christian Philosophy of Education” at the Facultad Adventista de España.

Dr. López-de la Torre is married to María José, and they are proud parents of two wonderful children. In his free time, he enjoys hiking with his wife, playing sports, and reading.
