Appoint officially the Office
of Human Relations as the Division's coordinator of the Millennium
2002 Race Relations Initiative.
Responsibility: President of the North American Division
Plan a second Summit that will be progress-oriented, focusing on
the achievements made by the Division as a result of its focus on
the recommendations identified during the 1999 Summit on Race Relations.
Responsibility: Race Relations Committee and Office of Human
Relations
Build on the moral imperative of Jesus that will lead to a true
diversity that incorporates culture, race, gender, and disability.
Responsibility: President of the North American Division
and The Division Executive Committee
Create a vision for the future of our Church based on values so
its public and internal image will be one of inclusiveness and racial
harmony.
Responsibility: The Office of Strategic Planning working
with NAD Departments and Entities and the Division Executive Committee
Create a strategic plan to achieve that vision in:
The ecclesiastical structure, with measurable objectives for diversity
that will include seeking potential leaders and mentoring them;
Responsibility: The President of the North American Division,
Officers, Presidents and Officers of Local Conferences, Union Conferences,
and the Executive Committee of the NAD
Congregations, to develop approaches to increase sensitivity to
each others' history, culture, personal experience, dreams for the
future, and the intentional cooperation and exchange of the members
of diverse congregations;
Responsibility: The President of the North American Division,
Officers, Presidents and Officers of Local Conferences, Union Conferences,
the Executive Committee of the NAD, Ministerial Associations, and
Pastors the North American Division
Education, utilizing all the media of the Church, reaching all levels
of the Church, presenting practical pathways to inclusivity;
Responsibility: North American Division Education, Youth,
Children's Ministries, Pathfindering and Camp Departments
