Why does the Church focus on race relations when there is only one race--the
human race?
Answer:
The Church's focus is on improving race relations. While we understand
that there is truly only one race, we use the terms that are nationally
understood when we are addressing social ills.
Question:
Why does the Church spend time dealing with racial issues when it can
be spending that time focusing on winning souls?
Answer:
Working on issues that have the potential for dividing us is also considered
to be winning souls. The Gospel Commission commands us not only to win
souls but to also value each soul and his/her gifts. Also, we are expected
to manage this diversity in order that we might learn to live as brothers
and sisters in Christ in our life time. If we do not deal with issues
that militate against unity in the body of Christ, new converts may join
and not remain, because conditions are not conducive to their growth in
the Lord.
Question:
Will there ever be a race summit conducted for the members division-wide?
Answer:
Eventually a national summit may be attempted, but not in the foreseeable
future. Right now we are working with the leaders of the Division. Every
leader of every Division entity is a member of the NAD Executive Committee.
What we are hoping is that leaders will conduct summits and dialogues
in the territory to which they are assigned.
