STAMFORD, CT -- On June 7, 2003, about 200 couples and a few singles from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont participated in From This Day Forward, a one-day celebration of marriage commitment opened to the general public and held at the Stamford Marriott Hotel in Stamford, Connecticut.

Sponsored by Family Ministries of the North American Division, and the Atlantic Union Conference, as well as the Northeastern, Northern New England and Southern New England Conferences, this is the third of four such events taking place across North America in 2003.

The marriage conference consisted of presentations made by Brenda and Mike Aufderhar from the Kentucky-Tennessee Conference Family Ministries, Willie and Wilma Lee from the Southwest Region Conference Family Ministries, and by Elaine and Willie Oliver from NAD Family Ministries.

During a day that lasted from 9:00 AM until 5:30 PM, couples learned skills on communication, problem solving, forgiveness and commitment. They also learned how to be intentional about scheduling times for just having fun and developing spiritual intimacy in marriage.

"Things we had put off talking about became much easier to discuss with the techniques taught at the seminar," a participating couple shared in their evaluation of the Conference.

At the end of the event, couples renewed their wedding vows and received specially designed certificates to commemorate the occasion.
