Union Disabilities Ministries Director

The union Disabilities Ministries director is appointed by the union committee and may be ask to serve on the Human Relations board and/or the union committee.

Goals and Objectives

To improve the potential and participation of people with disabilities in the church, thereby, promoting the goals and mission of the ministry.
To provide resources and information to the church constituency on issues related to disabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend the annual meeting of the Commission for People with Disabilities.
  • Encourage each conference to select a Disabilities Ministries director.
  • Assist the local conference director in developing an effective ministry.
  • Provide an initial orientation/training seminar for all new conference directors.
  • Provide on-going correspondence to the conference director.
  • Provide the Commission with an annual report of the progress of the ministry.
  • Serve as a liaison between the conference and the Commission.
  • Plan, organize, and implement a union-wide ministry.
  • Chair the Disabilities Ministries committee.
  • Be available as a speaker to give information on issues relating to disabilities.
