Conference Disabilities Ministries Director

The conference Disabilities Ministries director is appointed by the conference committee and may be asked to serve on the conference committee.

Goals and Objectives

To support pastors and local church disabilities ministries leaders/coordinators in setting up programs to improve the potential and participation of people with disabilities in the mission of the church.
To provide resources, leadership training, and information to church leaders.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote disabilities awareness at all conference-sponsored events.
  • Encourage pastors to appoint leaders/coordinators for their churches.
  • Develop and promote resources i.e., Christian Record Services.
  • Monitor accessibility to office, campgrounds, and other sponsored events.
  • Establish resources from community/national agencies and distribute to departmental leaders as needed.
  • Subscribe to professional (disability) periodicals.
  • Have access to state/local disability codes.
  • Encourage the conference in hiring people with disabilities.
  • Provide annual reports to the union director.
  • Conduct training seminars for the church leaders/coordinators.
  • Share information on ADA, accessibility issues, and other agency resources.
