Communication concentrates on creating a positive reputation for the Adventist Church among non-members and creating a positive reputation for the North American Division among members.
Bio
George Johnson Jr., a native of Baltimore, Maryland, graduated from Columbia Union College, in Takoma Park, Maryland, in May 1997, with a BS degree in communication emphasizing in public relations/journalism and broadcast media. It wasn't until his educational experiences at Columbia Union College that he realized he enjoyed writing and the world of communication.
George has been employed with the Seventh-day Adventist Church since 1997. He has been employed with the North American Division as a communication intern as well the Columbia Union Conference as a communication intern and the assistant communication director. In 2000, George accepted a position at Pine Forge Academy in Pine Forge, Pennsylvania, as an English instructor and while there also served as the director of public affairs and development.
George began working in the NAD Office of Communication in October 2002 as the assistant director for media relations for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in North America. In July 2006, he became the associate director in the Office of Communication. In October 2010, he was elected communication director at the North American Division's Year-end Meeting.
George also serves as the associate director of Adventist Event Planners Association and the executive producer of the SONscreen Film Festival.
George is married to the former Kimberly Carpenter of New York and the couple has two sons - George Warren Johnson III and Joshua Gavin Johnson.
George praises God for all of his experiences in his career and realizes that it is only by God's grace that he has been able to do the things that he has done.
