Ministry Description
The Breath of Life telecast is dedicated to sharing the healing Gospel of Jesus Christ in the context of the Three Angels' Messages of Revelation 14. This is done through the production and distribution of Christ-centered quality television and media programs and support materials that are intellectually stimulating, Bible-based, and designed to help people choose a quality of life found only in following Christ. We believe God has commissioned us to minister from the Black perspective to help all men and women fulfill their needs through a saving relationship with Jesus. We tailor our telecast, support materials, and public evangelism crusades in ways especially useful to the urban community to help people find and build relationships that assist spiritual growth in local congregations whose ultimate hope is fellowship with the Master and the masses in the earth made new.

Pastor Carlton P. Byrd, DMin, an ordained minister of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, is a graduate of Oakwood University (formerly Oakwood College) in Huntsville, AL with dual degrees, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management.  He is also a graduate of Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN, where he earned the Master of Business Administration Degree, and a graduate of Andrews University (SDA Theological Seminary) in Berrien Springs, MI, where he earned both the Master of Divinity Degree and the Doctor of Ministry Degree with an emphasis in African American Religious Studies.

In his nearly sixteen years of pastoral leadership, Dr. Byrd has constructed and renovated churches, baptized over 2,200 persons, served on numerous denominational and community boards, along with serving as a guest minister on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN).   He has pastored in the states of Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Texas, and Georgia.

Under Dr. Byrd’s leadership, the Atlanta Berean Church was awarded a $5.2 million grant from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in January, 2009 to construct a 50 apartment Senior Citizens’ Housing Facility, and in October, 2009, the Atlanta Berean Church was named the North American Division’s 2009 Innovative Church of the Year for the SDA Church.

The recipient of numerous honors and achievements, Dr. Byrd received the coveted "Chosen Pastor Award" for Atlanta’s Gospel Choice Awards in 2007, which recognizes outstanding pastors in the Metropolitan Atlanta area for their exceptional leadership and community involvement. Additionally, Dr. Byrd was named as one of the prized residents for “Who’s Who in Black Atlanta” for 2008 and 2009, was selected as the Oakwood University Alumnus of the Year for 2008, and in April, 2008, he was inducted into the Martin Luther King Board of Preachers at Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Byrd is happily married to the former Danielle Mounter, who is also a graduate of Oakwood University.  Dr. and Mrs. Byrd are the proud parents of two girls, Christyn and Caileigh.

It is Dr. Byrd’s desire to be saved when Jesus Christ comes, and to be instrumental in leading others to realize this most precious reward of everlasting life with our soon coming Savior through innovative, seeker-sensitive, Christ-centered ministry.
