● A MESSAGE FROM DON SCHNEIDER — This year the North American Division is partnering with the General Conference in presenting GIEN — the Global Internet Evangelism Network Conference.

To finish the work of the Lord on this earth will definitely require the use of media of which the Internet is the present and the future. This annual conference highlights some of the best initiatives the Church has in this area and I sincerely hope you will take advantage of the opportunity to learn and be inspired by attending.

By partnering with the General Conference it promises to be a conference filled with great speakers and information on how to spread the gospel through the Internet. Friday evening is a special evening with the Voice of Prophecy featuring Fred Kinsey, Connie Vandeman Jeffery and a concert by Jennifer LaMountain.

This is a reminder to make your reservations for GIEN – the room rate is guaranteed only through August 17 – so I encourage you to register as soon as you can. The Florida Mall Hotel is conveniently located only a few miles from the Orlando, FL International Airport.

The GIEN conference starts on Wed evening, Sept 9 at 6:00 pm and continues through Sabbath, Sept 12, at 6:00 p.m. You can go to the website at www.gien.adventist.org to see the schedule and some of the speakers as we are still posting that information.

To register at the hotel, call 407-859-1500 and use the code “GIEN Conference” to get the $99.00 per night rate.

For those attending GIEN please go to http://www.plusline.org/eventdetail.php?id=10181 to register for GIEN. – Don Schneider, NAD President

● DEFENDING ADVENTIST TRUTH AGAINST INTERNET SLANDER — Whenever a friend or neighbor sees any of our evangelistic promotion or is invited to church we are at the mercy of getting Googled into rejection before they have had a chance to meet us or to know who we really are. We are being defined by anti-Adventist websites posted by people who dislike or despise Adventists.

A new website has been launched to respond to Adventist opposition with positive presentations of God’s mercy and truth in our message and mission. Its content was provided by Mid-America Union Communication Director Martin Weber, and built with the help of Chris and Candice McConnell who proposed the site.

● HIGH PERCENTAGES OF ADVENTIST TEENS ARE LEAVING the church by their mid-20s, and an even higher percentage of all Christian young adults are no longer involved in spiritual matters or practices even if brought up in a church as teens.

Do you know how unchurched people see the church now? Will there still be people to build up the church tomorrow?

Read more and check the links at http://www.reframe.info/~pdf/NEWSLETTERS/3_6.pdf. It’s a must for anyone concerned or anxious to reach the unchurched.

Attend the RE:FRAME training event, Nov 27-29 in Vancouver, BC, Canada to learn more about reaching out to the postmodern.

 INSIDE SCOOP —

● EXTREME MAKEOVER HOME EDITION BESTOWS GRANT — The soup kitchen at First Adventist  Church in Washington, D.C., recently received a $5,000 grant from ABC’s “Extreme Makeover” broadcast. The grant, which was bestowed on nonprofit community service organizations, was a boon to the kitchen that serves between 75 and 100 people each week.
