HELP SQUELCH THE FALSE SUNDAY LAW RUMORS — Rumors seem to be intensifying as the papal visit draws nearer. Please refer your pastors and members to the letter from the GC Public Affairs and Religious Liberty Department, once again posted on the NAD web site.

Contact: www.nadadventist.org and look under “News.” (Do not give what appears to be the specific URL to the story. Since all news stories are on an RSS Feed, their URL changes every time a new story is added or an older one is edited.)

NATIVE MINISTRIES WANTS TO HELP CONFERENCES OPEN new territories and train members for soul winning of Native and non-Native people in North America. You can arrange for regional evangelism training in your conference. Each training event would end in an outreach event on or near Tribal Nation territories. This effort would help to sensitize members to opportunities for evangelism among Native Americans and help renew old relationships. Conferences can later expand evangelism by offering additional meetings.

Contact: Hal Thomsen at Halvard.Thomsen@nad.adventist.org or Bob Burnette at r_burnette@msn.com for assistance in reaching Native Americans in your conference. Go to www.nativeministries.com to learn more about NAD’s Native Ministries.

MANY CHRISTIAN BOOK STORES HAVE CLOSED in recent years, according to an article in the April edition of Christianity Today. Adventist Book Centers (ABCs) have a unique mission in providing various religious resources as well as vegetarian food.

“Sales growth varies from one store to another but overall we have not experienced the large decline that many Christian retailers have,” reports Terry Chesnut, Director of ABC Operations at Pacific Press.

“We continue to look for ways of adapting how we serve our customers through various channels:  in-store shopping, bookmobiles, camp meetings and web sites.

“AdventistBookCenter.com continues to show tremendous growth. Sales have grown through this channel from $30,000 in 1999 to just under $1 million in 2007. LibreriaAdventista.com, started in 2005, is also showing growth in sales from those searching for Spanish language material.”

■ SATELLITE PROGRAM NUMBERS CLIMBING — This is one time to join the masses. Nearly 300 sites are already registered for Discoveries '08 (October 24-November 29) even before most churches have received the promo packet. Register at www.Discoveries08.org by June 1 to receive a free 2-DVD series by Mark Finley to help prepare your members.

More than 10,000 clergy have registered for the PREACH seminar, April 22. Register at www.ministerialassociation.com and invite area clergy.

■ ADVENTIST VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL PROGRAM — “Castles and Crowns: A Royal Adventure,” produced by the Review and Herald in cooperation with the NAD, is an exciting 5-day child evangelism program that teaches the character of God through stories of the kings and queens of the Bible.

The leader's kit includes: a music DVD; music leader's CD with two tracks (vocal and accompaniment); a CD with ready-to-print leader manuals, activity pages, decorating stencils and clip art. All materials can be printed and/or duplicated locally.

Contact: your local Adventist Book Center; call 800-765-6955; or visit www.adventistbookcenter.com.

■ WEIMAR'S INTERNATIONALLY-KNOWN NEWSTART HEALTH RECOVERY program and Weimar Academy will continue to operate as they have for 30 years. The recent closure of the College by the Weimar Board of Trustees does not mean closure of the Institute.

After two years of study, prayer, and discussion, it has been decided that the Institute will be administered by Amazing Facts with a new board of directors providing direction to both ministries.

Contact: www.nadadventist.org in the News section and watch www.amazingfacts.org for more details.
