Douglas L. Janssen
Assistant to the Director
Elder Douglas Janssen grew up in a pastor’s home in Southeastern California and North Dakota. After graduating from Loma Linda University/LSC with a degree in Theology he served as a pastor in the Southern and Northern California Conferences. During that time he earned an M.Div. from Andrews University and also took training in Advanced Listening Skills Development.
In 1994 NAD asked Doug to take on the role of “Pastoral Consultant” to the pastors and churches seeking to purchase satellite equipment so they could become involved in the NET events being developed by the Adventist Communication Network (ACN). With the help of his wife, Coral, Doug has answered thousands of phone calls from churches seeking help with their satellite equipment. He also traveled to dozens of camp meetings and ministers’ meetings promoting NET events and other church growth events on ACN. Over the years he also served as Program Director and Satellite Technical Director for ACN.
Doug moved the satellite support part of ACN to the Adventist Information Ministry (AIM) offices in 2001 to take advantage of the superior phone and technical environment and the student labor available to help churches with technical assistance. Doug oversees the Satellite Support, Chaplain Services and Information Technology departments at AIM and has helped build awareness of the 800-HIS-WORD witnessing number developed by AIM. Because he believes that God wants the church to use the media and other technologies to spread the gospel, working at AIM (whose mission is to support those ministries) provides excitement and fulfillment in his work for the Lord.
When not in the office Doug spends lots of time with his grandchildren who keep him young at heart. He also enjoys riding his lawn tractor, NASCAR and the occasional game of golf.
