■ PRAYER SUMMIT — Former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft will be one of the featured speakers at the Prayer Summit prior to the NAD Ministries Convention in Tucson, Arizona. The Summit begins at 3 p.m. January 5, and ends at 11:30 a.m., January 7.

The Pre-Convention Prayer Summit is especially for Adventist ministry leaders, union and conference presidents, pastors, conference and local church prayer coordinators, and members interested in prayer and evangelism. One conference in NAD is taking all their pastors to the Prayer Summit.

Contact: www.plusline.org/eventdetail.php?id=198 or 800-732-7587 for more information, or to pre-register by noon, December 28.

■ FREE WEB SITES FOR ADVENTIST SCHOOLS — Close on the heels of Adventist Church Connect, comes Adventist School Connect (ASC). Sites contain unlimited space for as many pages as desired. There are 15 different designs to choose from, and four possible variations of each. Schools also can work with a designer if they prefer a customized look. A built-in content-management system makes it easy to add information and to update and maintain the site.

Included in each site are modules for information about the school, a calendar, news, pages for each classroom, useful links, devotionals, enrollment information, Home and School, and alumni information.

Additional pay-per-use modules are available for small monthly charges (plus set up fee for the shopping cart and streaming). The pay-per-use modules include fun polls, a forum, guest book, chat, school directory with photos, RSS feed for sending articles, e-mail newsletters, photo gallery, shopping cart, Podcasting, video and MSS streaming.

The North American Division is pleased to provide ASC web sites, including hosting software and support, at no charge.

Contact: www.adventistschoolconnect.com to view modules, sample a demo site, and sign up.

■ ELECTRONIC GIVING FOR CHURCH WEB SITES — AdventistGiving (AG) is a new software that is now available for Adventist Church Connect (ACC) v2.0 web sites. If a church is using ACC v1.0, they will need to update to the free v2.0 and then request to join the AdventistGiving community.

Eventually, all church web sites will be able to use the AG program. AG directors hope, by early in 2007,  to be able to predict when that will be possible.

Contact: help@adventistgiving.org for more information and to sign up. Any church using ACC v2.0 wishing to use the AdventistGiving program will be put on the list for implementation.

■ ADVENTIST SATELLITE SYSTEMS ARE NOW AVAILABLE FOR US$179 +S/H, or the New Digital PVR Satellite System for US$339 + S/H. All systems are preprogramed to receive the HOPE Channel, Esperanza TV, LLBN, 3ABN, 3ABN Latino, ATN, ACN, Radio 74, LifeTalk Radio and 3ABN Radio (no monthly fees). They come with 90cm dish, LNBF and self-installation kit with complete step-by-step instructions. Professional installation also available coast-to-coast in the U.S. and Canada.

NEW Channel Package Update – Add an additional 25 Christian channels (no monthly fees) for just US$20 more!

Contact: 888-552-6882 or 916-677-4386 or visit www.adventistsat.com for more details.

■ A DOCUMENTARY ON THE ADVENTIST HEALTH STUDY-2 AND LONGEVITY is being planned by the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) and they will come to the U.S. to interview some Adventists in January and February. Currently there are more than 1400 over the age of 90 and 76 over 100 who are in the study.

Adventist Health Study Directors have received 94,000 out of the 100,000 questionnaires needed in order to enhance the future viability, success and funding of the project. More are needed! Please vigorously promote participation for members 30 years and older and encourage all who have not already done so to return the questionnaire as soon as possible.

See how your conference and churches are rated at the Adventist Health Study web site. So far, Montana is the only conference with a Double Gold Medal for reaching more than 100% of the set goal, and 706 churches.

The application for a grant for the next 5-year phase of follow-up and church clinics has just been submitted to the National Institutes of Health.

Contact: www.adventisthealthstudy.org or call 877-700-7077 for the questionnaire.

■ ADVERTISING DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE IN UNION MAGAZINES — Place an ad in at least five of the nine union magazines and receive a 15% “National Buy” discount. You may wish to advertise four or more times in one year and add a frequency discount to your National Buy discount. Only one insertion order and check are needed. Space in the March issues needs to be reserved by December 14.

Contact: www.nadnationalbuy.com for prices, sizes and contact information.

■ NEW THIS WEEK, “LIFETALK KIDS,” radio program features stories, kids’ music, and Bible lessons for children 24/7. Although it targets children up to 12 years old many adults also enjoy it.

Contact: www.lifetalk.net and choose “Listen Live” and “LifeTalk Kids.”

LifeTalk also webcasts its radio programming on 2 streams — one at 64k for broadband and the other at 20k for dial-up. In addition, LifeTalk streams a music and news channel at 128k 24/7.  Currently the music on this stream is 100% Christmas.

LifeTalk releases its radio programming to 70 radio stations as well as over the Internet. It is also available on the HOPE TV channel. Starting in January, the “Steve Gallimore Live” program will be carried every week day on HOPE TV.

■ THE ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA COMMUNITY PRAISE CENTER has been awarded the December eChurch of the Month Award.

■ SEEKING CHURCH-PLANTING “MOTHER CHURCHES” — Leadership Network,  a well-known organization serving pastors of American evangelical churches, is looking for Adventist church-planting contacts to include in a large, interdenominational survey that it is conducting. The churches must meet at least two of the following four criteria:

 1) has a church planting person on staff; 2) provides or gets training for church planters; 3) sends their members to assist new churches; 4) designates a portion of annual budget to support church planting.

Contact: Paul Richardson, Director, Center for Creative Ministry, at 800-272-4664, providing contact information for qualifying churches in your conference.
