  — RESOURCES —

** DEADLINE TO ORDER HANDBILLS for “The Presence” at reduced cost is Monday, August 14. Then prices increase from US$69 to $74/1,000. Order handbills and other promotional items online at www.adventistevangelism.com/thepresence.

 Shawn Boonstra, speaker for “The Presence,” believes that the timing for this series about the Sanctuary couldn’t be better. He was surprised one night to discover on television “a prominent professor from a secular university explaining the ritual of the Day of Atonement and what it means to us in the plan of salvation!” He says, “I simply couldn’t stop watching. He proceeded to explain that the earthly sanctuary modeled the heavenly sanctuary, and that the outer courtyard is this earth, and the Most Holy Place represents the locality of God’s throne in heaven. At the end, the audience was so excited that it rose to its feet and gave him a standing ovation...

 “People who have never discussed the sanctuary and its last-day significance are suddenly talking about it. It is the most surprising development in the arena of public thought that I’ve come across in a while.”

 "The Presence" will also be available with a live Spanish audio track. Register your church as a host site (English or Spanish) at www.thepresence.com/host.

** DON SCHNEIDER, TELEVISION HOST — Our President Don Schneider has a personal passion and vision for sharing his belief that anyone can experience Really Living (which happens to be the title of the show he will be hosting), by knowing Jesus and living for Him. He’s excited about hosting the new 60-minute show that “will encourage viewers to discover a God of hope who can fill us with joy and peace even in a world torn by strife and war,” says Brad Thorpe, president of Hope Channel.

 Really Living will premier on the Hope Channel, Friday, September 8, at 7 p.m., EDT/PDT. Repeat airings: Sabbath, September 9, at 5 p.m. (EDT), Monday, September 11, 7:00 a.m. (EDT), Thursday, September 14, at 11 a.m. (EDT). It will be aired weekly at these same times and will also be broadcast at prime viewing times on Hope Channel International and Hope Channel Europe.

** CHURCH MOURNS LOSS OF ALFRED C. MCCLURE — It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Elder Alfred C. McClure, former president of the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists. Elder McClure passed away on Tuesday, August 1, at the age of 74.

 For the past years, Elder McClure had been battling lung cancer. His initial chemotherapy treatments allowed him to continue traveling, attend church, and exercise. In the last few weeks of his life, tumors were found in his brain. Although radiation treatments were administered, they did not cure the tumors.

 Survivors include his wife, Frances; and his children, Sally, Al Jr., and Scott.

 Ordained as a Seventh-day Adventist minister in the Florida Conference in 1959, Elder McClure served many areas of the Church:
* Evangelist, Florida Conference, 1954-1956
* Pastor, Florida Conference, 1956-1963
* Pastor, Missouri Conference, St. Louis, 1963-1967
* Department Director, Georgia-Cumberland Conference, 1967-1973
* President, Wyoming Conference, 1973-1977
* President, Kansas Conference, 1977-1978
* President, Kentucky -Tennessee Conference, 1978-1980
* President, Southern Union Conference, 1980-1990

 Elder McClure was elected to serve as the president of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in North America at the 55th General Conference Session in Indianapolis, IN. During his 10-year leadership, more than 250,000 people were baptized in North America as well as the establishment of the Division as a distinct administrative unit. He was also in the forefront of satellite evangelism in the 1990’s, the first of which was NET ’95 with more than 150,000 people attending the opening meeting in more than 2,000 locations.

 Memorial services were held on Sabbath, August 5, at 3:00 p.m. at the Collegedale Seventh-day Adventist Church, in Collegedale, Tennessee, on the campus of Southern Adventist University.

 In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Southern Adventist University Worthy Student Fund, P.O. Box 370, Collegedale, TN 37315.
