A News and Information Service for Leaders in North America

1-page PDF Version

A year ago, who would have thought that every Seventh-day Adventist Church in North America would one day have a web site? One that is relevant and up-to-date, that helps people learn more about Jesus and to find an Adventist church anywhere in North America?

Adventist Church Connect v1.0 was launched in January for churches in the North American Division. Before that, only 20% of our churches had a web presence. Now nearly all Adventist churches in the division have an up-to-date web site with the means to reach anyone in the world at no cost to the local church.

And now it’s about to get even better...

Can a church be relevant and caring if it’s not available? A wonderful church without a web site is like a wonderful store without windows. No one can see what it has to offer unless they physically go inside. An attractive, interactive and up-to-date web site makes a church available to anyone in the world who has an Internet connection, anytime, and leaves them with a positive impression after just “looking through the window.” Name just one other resource that can do that. And for Adventist churches in the North American Division that resource is free!

Many churches responded positively to v1.0 and said they would like to do more. In response, the division is piloting fully-functional content management v2.0 web sites. V2.0 will provide churches with greater opportunity to interact with the local community and the larger church community by allowing them to add their own content and arrange the site to meet their needs.

As part of this initiative, the NAD will provide ACC v2.0 web sites to every conference at no charge. Conferences choosing to customize the design of their site may arrange to do so with a designer.

One exciting feature of v2.0 allows the conferences, unions, and the division, through the communication director, to share news and messages with all the churches in the conference through a syndication technology (RSS), and also will enable you to share news articles that are posted on various church sites with the rest of the churches in your conference.

Sites include information about Adventist beliefs and ministry resources, and offer a searchable database of Adventist web sites. Churches can choose daily devotional thoughts, biblically-focused messages, and articles on health and daily living to personalize their site.

V2.0 sites contain unlimited space and allow users to update content using an easy text editor program. Adventist Church Connect provides modules for prayer requests, daily devotionals, a church calendar, news, and ministry pages.  Email is available. Many professionally-designed layout options are available, or churches can work with a designer for a personalized appearance. Online video tutorials walk users through all steps of customizing their site.

There are no fees, no special equipment needed, no expensive set-up charges, no monthly maintenance fees from the provider.

There are some additional optional features your churches can add if they wish, for a small monthly cost (in U.S. dollars): photo gallery ($3), church directory with photos ($2) viewable only by church members with a login, poll ($2), podcasting ($10), video streaming ($10/500 megs storage MMS streaming, $50 setup fee for archived, $200 setup fee for live), forum ($1), chat ($2), e-mail newsletters ($3), guest book ($1), shopping cart ($5. $200 set-up fee).
