7-13-17 NAD Ministerial Association Offers Continuing Education Credit for Summit on Abuse
Silver Spring, MD — Pastors who attend the Summit on Abuse on Sept. 11, 2017, will be eligible to receive .5 units of continuing education credit, according to Keith Bowman of Adventist Learning Community (ALC). To receive credit, pastors can log into their ALC account and select the event “Pastors’ Summit on Abuse” from the available options. After filling out an online reflection question discussing the impact of the summit on their ministry context, they will receive .5 units of CE credit toward their annual goal of 2 units.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church recognizes that abuse affects children, women, and men within the church and community. While the role of the pastor many times includes caring for the aftereffects of abuse on both victims and perpetrators, the pastor can also play an influential role in the prevention of abuse. Dave Gemmell, an associate director of the NAD Ministerial Association, suggests, “This summit will help increase pastors’ effectiveness in dealing with and preventing abuse in their communities.”
This streamed summit will begin promptly at 12 p.m. EDT and will conclude at 4:30 p.m. and is available at no charge to pastors of the North American Division.
Featured presenters include:

David Fournier — Child-to-Child Bullying
