The second day of business at the 60th General Conference Session continued Friday afternoon with the elections of the remaining officers that will represent the world headquarters of the Seventh-day Adventist Church for the next five years.

G.T. Ng, was re-elected to the position of executive secretary of the General Conference, a position he has held since 2010. Ng previously worked as an associate secretary for the world church, focusing on the Northern Asia-Pacific, Southern Asia, and Trans-European divisions.

Juan Prestol was elected to serve as the executive treasurer of the General Conference, replacing Robert Lemon who is retiring after serving as treasurer since 2002. Prestol had previously been serving the Adventist church as undertreasurer for the General Conference, a position he was elected to in 2007. Prior to his General Conference election, Prestol served as the executive treasurer of the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists.

Myron Iseminger was re-elected to the position of executive undersecretary for the General Conference, a role he has filled since 2011.

Lemon gave the Treasurer’s report, highlighting the giving to the church over the past year and how its funds are being utilized in fulfilling its mission. At the conclusion of the report, Daniel R. Jackson, president of the North American Division, went to the microphone, thanking Lemon for his years of devoted service to the church. He then requested that the delegates also show their appreciation for Lemon’s work, which they did with a standing ovation.

Earlier in the day, Ng gave the Secretary’s Report, which gave details on the church’s growth over the past five years. Currently the church membership stands at 18.5 million members and as a presence in 215 countries of the world. During the past five years, more than 6 million people joined the church, but an alarming 3 million members also left, giving evidence of the need to further disciple and nurture new and existing members.

The Friday evening program will include a look at the evangelism work being done in the church and will feature a number of baptisms and the evening message by Mark Finley.

The business meetings will continue on Sunday morning, July 5th.
