With an eye toward establishing community centered healthcare initiatives, the Lake Union has asked Randy Griffin, D.D.S., to lead the Adventist Community Health Initiative Department. The goal is to provide basic medical and dental care events, similar to the Adventist-laymen's Services & Industries San Francisco Bay area initiative last year and the "Your Best Pathway to Health" event slated for San Antonio, Texas, Apr. 8–10,  and others. MORE

 
   
Washington Adventist University received a generous $1 million check recently from health care executive and board member Bruce Boyer. The gift will be used toward a new $10.3 million Health Professions, Science and Wellness Center on campus. MORE

New Leaders in NAD:
 
   
Sherri Uhrig will serve as the new NAD Children’s Ministries director. She replaces Phyllis Washington who retired last Nov. Sherri has served as director for the Oregon Conference Children's Ministries since 2000. She has worked in various areas of children’s ministries for over 30 years.  MORE


 
   
Pastor Jose Herminio Cortes, Jr. has joined as associate director in the Ministerial Department. He will focus on transformational evangelism, discipleship, and outreach in the North American Division. Cortes, Jr. replaces Shawn Boonstra who transitioned to become director for the Voice of Prophecy media ministry. MORE

 
   
Michael Brown is the new associate director in Philanthropic Service for Institutions. Along with his other responsibilities, Michael will be working with the Model for Academy Philanthropy Program. He is former president of Targeted Insights, a marketing consultancy he founded to serve the donor communications, research, and fundraising needs of nonprofit clients. MORE

The Nonprofit Leadership Certification Program (NLCP), Mar. 22-26, is a two-level leadership development program that equips pastors and lay leaders with the latest strategies and professional skills to successfully lead. NLCP focuses on three major components: Leadership, Nonprofit Management, and Social Dimension of Evangelism. This intensive two session program is taught by a group of professionals who teach participants how to operate and minister effectively. The 12th annual Andrews University Music and Worship Conference will be held Feb. 26-28 on the Andrews campus. It will provide biblically grounded training opportunities for church musicians, pastors, worship leaders, and anyone involved in worship ministry. A Prayer and Blessing Initiative
 
   
The Spanish SDA Church in Bridgton, N.J. wanted to connect with their community and to make a difference. They joined the Hope for Humanity Prayer and Blessing Initiative in which members committed to meeting with several business owners once each quarter to pray for them and their business.
