A message from NAD President Daniel Jackson
In his outstanding book on living life to the fullest author Chuck Swindoll makes the following statement: “The pursuit of happiness is a matter of choice… It is a positive attitude we choose to express. It is not a gift delivered to our door each morning, nor does it come through the window.” (Chuck Swindoll, Laugh Again
, p. 51).
The Scriptures make a definitive statement on this. Thankfulness and praise come to the individual as a result of a deliberate choice to place our faith in God. Lasting happiness comes when we do this consistently. That is, when our lives are God-centered.
This Thanksgiving let us place our trust in Him Who can give us the basis for happiness and gratitude. Paul reminds us of this with the following words:
“Do not worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks. And God’s peace, which is so great we cannot understand it, will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6, 7)
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
