Calling All Cyclists! A 2015 Tour de Youth Cycling Event to GC Session will be hosted by the Southwest Region Conference (SWC). The ride will journey 325 miles from Dallas to San Antonio, Texas, through the beautiful towns, hills, and back roads of Central Texas, beginning Sunday, June 28, arriving on Thursday, July 2.

This four-day cycling adventure will bring awareness to Texas and the U.S. about the growing problem of youth and adult obesity. Ten out of the 11 states that have increased rates of obesity are located in the South, and children between the ages of 2‐19 are recording dangerous levels of obesity and unhealthy lifestyles choices. The SWC wants to encourage young people and adults to “get moving” and live better for the future.

Register now to join them or sponsor someone on June 28th, 2015 at the SWC headquarters in Dallas. MORE

"I Believe" on Bible Bay.org features articles and stories useful for discussion. The articles are written by Christian author, David B. Smith, and can become excellent study guides for individual use or in small groups, Sabbath School classes and other discussion-oriented settings (PDF study sheets are available to print out). Each I Believe Study Guide covers one of the 28 fundamental beliefs of the Adventist church, but does so in a fresh new way. See the Study Guide index

"Ministering Hope to the Healing Heart, Part 2," presented by Roberta Fish at the 2014 Summit on Abuse

In this presentation of Part 2, (see part 1) Roberta Fish talks about how to care for someone, or one's self when being abused. How do we talk to them? What should we say to ourselves? How do we heal?

Dr. Fish makes suggestions such as the use of texts from the Bible, singing uplifting songs, and to learn to ask for what we need, and many other ways of ministering. When helping survivors, we need to be an example of good self-care, and Jesus is our example. Setting up healthy boundaries is healing. "
But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ Matthew 5:37."  Learn more:  Watch the video.

Kettering's GospelFest Attracts 4,000

More than 4,000 recently attended Kettering Adventist HealthCare’s GospelFest, a free, Christian music festival that featured Sanctus Real, a Dove Award-winning Christian band, and 10 local church groups.

Jarrod McNaughton, a vice president at Kettering, says they have received a tremendous response from the event and hope to do it again in the future.

“Our goal was to bring the faith community together and celebrate our Christian mission of caring for our community as we celebrate our 50th anniversary,” says McNaughton.—Story by V. Michelle Bernard, Columbia Union Visitor News Bulletin, August 21, 2014
