Ivan Williams graduated from Oakwood College (now Oakwood University), in Huntsville, Ala., with an associate of science degree in communication in 1985 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in theology in 1986. In 1988, he graduated from Andrews University, in Berrien Springs, Mich., with a Masters of Divinity. He then graduated from Commissioned Officer Training School, United States Air Force, in 1996. In 2002, Williams graduated from Squadron Officer School Air University in Residence, and from Claremont School of Theology, in Claremont, Calif., with a Doctor of Ministry degree. His dissertation dealt with pastoral burnout and renewal in Seventh-day Adventist ministry.
Williams also currently serves as a chaplain for the California State Assembly, and as a chaplain (major) for the 129th California Air National Guard Rescue Wing. He is president of Brighter Hope Ministries, Inc., and can be heard on many radio stations around the country. His pastoral ministry spans over 20 years, and has included churches in three conferences – South Atlantic Conference, Southeastern California Conference, and Northern California Conference.
Williams is married to Kathleen Scott Williams, and has a daughter, Imani, and a son, Ivan, II.
