5-15-13 Commemorating the Sesquicentennial of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
Special commemoration service to be held
The Hope Channel will record a special commemorative service on Tuesday afternoon, May 21 in the GC auditorium. It will include some early Adventist hymns, GC President Ted Wilson will speak, and there will be a prayer of rededication by Seventh-day Adventist Pastor Barry Black, Chaplain of the Senate. Immediately following, Wilson will officially "unveil" the new exhibit on the first 60 years of the Church's history, which is being installed in the GC atrium. The program will be broadcast on Sabbath, May 25 on the Hope Church Channel (time to be announced).
Please also remember that May 18 is the worldwide day of prayer, remembrance and recommitment to mission. At this time we request your prayers that our people will, in this Sesquicentennial year, remember (and not forget) "the way the Lord has led us and His teachings in our past history" – that they will be energized and recommitted to mission, so that there will be no bicentenary of the Church, at least not on Earth! And please pray for the NY13 initiative that begins soon after May 21. It will be, in many ways, the best and most "Adventist" way to mark our 150th anniversary.
