4-30-13 Voice of Prophecy Board Names New Leader
Former speaker/director of It Is Written takes the helm

The Voice of Prophecy Board met Tuesday, April 30 in Simi Valley, Calif., and elected Pastor Shawn Boonstra the new speaker/director of The Voice of Prophecy. “Shawn has clearly demonstrated that he has a heart for evangelism and for reaching those who need to hear the messages of Christ’s love and redemptive power,” said Dan Jackson, president of the Voice of Prophecy Board and of the North American Division.
Recently, Pastor Boonstra served as an associate ministerial director at the North American Division. His role in the Ministerial Department was to inspire, train, and equip pastors and churches for evangelism.
Prior to this assignment, he served for seven years as the speaker/director of It Is Written, an international Christian television ministry dedicated to sharing insights from God’s Word with people around the world. While serving as speaker/director for It Is Written, Pastor Boonstra appeared weekly on it’s main television program (and podcast), which was broadcast to more than 140 countries in 11 languages. He also served as speaker/director for It Is Written Canada and pastored a number of churches in British Columbia.
Pastor Boonstra has also authored more than 15 outreach-oriented books. He and his wife Jean have two daughters.
Pastor Boonstra replaces Pastor Fred Kinsey who served The Voice of Prophecy for five years. Pastor Kinsey was named interim speaker/director of The Voice of Prophecy after Pastor Lonnie Melashenko, former speaker/director, accepted a ministry call to the Kettering Health Network in Ohio in July 2008. In 2009, Pastor Kinsey was named speaker/director, while still serving as the assistant to the president for communication for the North American Division. In August 2010, Kinsey was asked to serve with The Voice of Prophecy full time.
Under Kinsey’s leadership, The Voice of Prophecy expanded the voices heard on the 15-minute daily and 30-minute weekly radio programs by Mike Tucker, Elizabeth Talbot and Willa Sandmeyer. He also led the ministry to become involved with social media including the introduction of The Voice of Prophecy iPhone app.
“We are grateful for Fred’s ability to bring a diversity of programming to The Voice of Prophecy which allowed this ministry to continue to win souls for Christ,” said Jackson. “We also applaud his commitment to the Seventh-day Adventist Church and the role he played in communication ministry at the Division for many years,” he said.
