On Monday, January 28, an international team of young adults assembled in New York City. Together, they represent every division in the world field as well as the attached mission of the Middle East. They will spend the first 6 months of the year on the ground in New York City involved in ministry, giving Bible studies, working with other NYC young adults, engaging in evangelistic efforts of local churches. Then, they will each return to their home divisions and use the skills they have learned to evangelize their home territories.

Drs. Claudio and Pamela Consuegra were asked to spend the first day of orientation with them. The young people were taught things such as the “peculiarities” of American Culture and communication skills. It was a wonderful opportunity to talk about the differences among the various cultures that were represented and the diverse world that God has made.

In addition, they were given the opportunity to participate in numerous team building activities and then to spend time reflecting on the spiritual implications for ministry with each activity. In just a short time this group is developing into a strong united team.

So, what difference can a group of international young adults who are united in purpose and ministry make? “With such an army of workers as our youth, rightly trained, might furnish, how soon the message of a crucified, risen, and soon-coming Saviour might be carried to the whole world!” (White, Education, p. 271)

Prayers are solicited as these young adults visit and work in homes and churches throughout the city of New York. Pray that they will leave an impact upon New York City that will last throughout eternity!
